PROFILE

Julianne’s love of gardens began as a child gardening with her mother in Salinas, California.  Following formal training in art at San Jose State University and twenty years as a practicing artist, she combined her artist’s eye, love for gardening and abiding interest in California native plants into a new career.  She studied Landscape Architecture at the University of California Berkeley Extension and received her certificate in 1992.  She became a licensed landscape architect in 1994.

During her studies and afterward, Julianne worked with several prominent Bay Area landscape architects and designers on a wide range of residential, commercial and public projects.  She developed expertise in site development, grading and drainage, hardscape design and detailing, irrigation and plant design.  In the mid 1990’s she launched her own practice in landscape architecture, devoted exclusively to residential gardens in and near Palo Alto, California.

Julianne brings her artistic talent and technical understanding to projects of all sizes.  She approaches each project with an awareness of the importance of the relationship between the client’s objectives, site conditions and existing architecture.  Her goal is to enhance the beauty of the site, and to create useable, memorable spaces that reflect each client’s needs.

Julianne is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and the Association of Professional Landcape Designers (APLD) and has been featured in Home + Garden Design Magazine
